Care

  • Our silver pieces are crafted from 925 sterling silver, a genuine sterling silver alloy that hits the sweet spot for quality, beauty and durability.

    Care
Due to normal oxidation, sterling silver jewelry may tarnish over time. Sometimes a patina adds charm, but tarnish prevention can maintain a piece’s original look. The best way to prevent tarnish? Wear it! The more you wear a piece, the higher polish it will achieve. If tarnish does build, cleaning with a simple silver polishing cloth will do the trick. Avoid polishing set stones with treated cloths, as stones have different needs than silver. Never use a silver “dip” to clean jewelry as it removes too much material, can weaken the metal, and may damage stones.

To clean any other type of residue, use a soft toothbrush with warm water and mild soap (only if necessary). Dry jewelry with a soft cloth, or spray a set stone with compressed air to push water out of the setting. Always make sure to clean jewelry in a cup or bowl, or cover sink drains with a towel to make sure that precious pieces don’t disappear down a drain!

    Storage
It is best to store silver jewelry in a soft bag or fabric lined jewelry box to prevent scratches and tarnish. For silver items without stones, desiccant packets or anti-tarnish strips placed inside a jewelry box may slow the oxidation process. Be sure not to store any sensitive stones in a container with desiccant or tarnish strips. Porous and fragile stones need moisture to preserve their luster or shine.

Store chains in a manner where there is no extra tension applied to them, not coiled too tight or tangled with other chains.

  • Bronze is a durable and long lasting metal made up of mostly copper and a bit of tin, creating a warm, golden-toned metal which pairs well with gold and gold-filled jewelry.

    Care
Over time, bronze will develop a natural patina when exposed to the elements. To make the original brighter finish of new jewelry last longer, regularly clean it with a small amount of dish soap and warm water. Exposure to humidity, chemicals, saltwater, beauty and cleaning products can affect the appearance of bronze. For these tougher stains lightly buff your piece with warm water, soap, and a green scouring pad. Some people prefer the darker tone of patinated bronze, and some prefer the bright gold tone when you originally receive your piece, the level of brightness is up to you and is fully achievable by the amount you clean your piece.

    Rings
Due to the makeup of the metal, bronze has the tendency to oxidize and potentially interact with skin’s pH, leaving a temporary greenish cast. This reaction is harmless and natural. This may happen more intensely when sweating or dehydrated. Looking for ways to curb the green? Avoid wearing your rings in sweaty situations, wear bronze pieces tight enough to stay put, but not too tight to seal off air flow between skin, or paint the inside of a ring with a thin layer of clear nail polish to seal it. Though some people find a natural oil seal is built up over time on the ring, greening is likely to happen regardless, especially upon first wear.
